How Multotec Canada is Participating in the Mining Industry in Western Canada

Did you know that, during 2017 in Canada, gold was the most valuable of the five main mineral products? Gold represented $8.7 billion compared to coal, the second mineral product, which represented $6.2 billion.
Pretty impressive, isn’t it? Not surprisingly, there are several gold and coal mining projects underway in Western Canada. Multotec Canada is proud to participate in this prosperous industry by offering a range of products aimed at optimizing the gold and coal mineral processing.
Gold in Western Canada
Gold exploration is an integral part of the mining industry in Western Canada. Several ongoing projects promise the discovery of a considerable number of ounces of gold: Cariboo (Barkerville Gold Mines), Blackwater (NewGold), Kemess (Centerra Gold), and Seabridge Gold Iskut and KSM projects in British Columbia, to name but a few. Two major projects in Alberta come to mind: Monument Bay (Yamana Gold) and Lynn Lake (Alamos Gold).
Coal in Western Canada
There is also great potential in coal exploration in British Columbia and Manitoba. You can find out more about this potential by reading about the Michel Creek (CanAus Coal Limited) and Grassy Mountain (Riversdale Resources) projects.
Interstage Screening, Cyclones, Samplers and Spirals
When it comes to the gold and coal processing, Multotec specializes in several stages in the processing of these minerals due to the team’s expertise and the engineering of its products.
Interstage Screening
Proud partner of Kemix, Multotec Canada is the exclusive distributor of Interstage screens in Canada. This product screening solution facilitates accurate cutpoints and minimal binding with precision-made symmetrical seamless wedge wire cylinders that are spot-welded to ensure close tolerances on aperture sizes, with diameters up to 2,100 mm and lengths of up to 4,000 mm.
Classification Cyclones
Over the years, Multotec has developed a wide range of superior quality classification cyclones. Each cyclone application is sized for duty, choosing from small to large diameter or from special application hydrocyclones to provide optimal classification and operating flexibility. Read our blog article to learn more about how to maintain high performance of your cyclones.
Samplers
Specifically designed according to the Sampling Theory to allow each particle an even chance of being selected, which ensures statistical correctness and minimized variance. Well-positioned in the process, they allow an accurate mineral balance, thus enhancing the control of the process and helping achieve better recovery. Read our blog article Unbiased Sampling to learn more.
Coal Spirals
Multotec has developed both single (SX4) and double (SX7 and MX7) coal spirals that are optimized to suit coal concentrators. These coal spirals can be assembled in single, double or triple starts as well as up to 7 turn configurations in high or low feed ash profiles. They are developed for coarse coal qualities and are guaranteed to improve overall separation efficiency.
